Dark Island Trail

The Dark Island Trail is an 8-mile long hike/bike trail opened in 2007 that extends from just south of Central City to Marquette along a former railroad.   The trail passes through farmland, densely wooded areas, and over a long wooden bridge with spectacular views of the Platte River.  Future plans for extending the trail into the heart of Central City are currently in the works.  For more information, visit the Dark Island Trail Facebook page.

Why I Love Central City!
"People are nice.  The teachers are nice teachers.  Moms and Dads let us play with everyone.  Everyone is thankful for each other.  It helps our city by recycling.  I like all of the cops because they do their job.  That's why I like this city."
