The Central City Aquatic Center opened in the spring of 2009. The facility can handle a capacity of 428 patrons and holds 252,322 gallons of water. The pool features a zero depth entry, 2 diving boards, 2 water slides, shallow water toy features, lap lanes and lounge chairs. A professional staff ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for your family.
Plans for a new Aquatic Center were first discussed in 2006. Discussions regarding design, features and locations were held during open public meetings during 2007 with attendance of about 50 people. Middle and Grade School students were also visited and polled regarding their preferences for a new pool facility.
On January 15, 2008, the Central City Municipal Facilities Corporation was incorporated for the purpose of bidding, financing, overseeing construction and administering the capital costs of the project. A contract with Eriksen Construction of Blair, Nebraska was signed on March 27, 2008 for $2,127,800 with a completion date of April 30, 2009. Total project costs, including construction, engineering, testing, and parking lot are expected to be about $2,500,000.
